About Nigel Adams

Son of a farmer, Nigel spent the early part of his career working for the Nature Conservancy Council as a site warden managing Chalk grassland and Beech forest on a National Nature. He career then progressed as an Area Ranger for the National Trust and eventually as a Reserve Manager for English Nature. Nigel then moved to Dartmoor in the South West of England and became Head Warden for all National Trust properties in the area. Having moved back to Oxfordshire he is now self-employed providing a range of ‘Countryside Management services’ for landowners and conservation organisations.

His work is mixed and varied but he specialises in hedgerow management and is an expert hedgelayer and competition winner. He sits on ‘Hedgelink’, a steering group for national hedgerow policies and gives many talks to landowners around the country on hedgerow management. He was recently involved in long term research project on hedgerow management which has influenced government agri-environment schemes.
