Hedgelaying is the traditional, highly skilled craft of rejuvenating hedgerows. It is an essential component of The Hedgerow Management Cycle which allows hedgerows to remain dense and healthy long into the future – great for wildlife, shelter, carbon storage, soil erosion and much more.
The National Hedgelaying Society champions the craft. With over 400 members involved with in projects all over the UK, an Accreditation scheme, Train the Trainers course and apprenticeship placements.
The website creation was part of the Life on the Hedge Project, partnership funded by the Trees Call to Action Fund. The fund was developed by Defra in partnership with the Forestry Commission and is being delivered by the Heritage Fund.
